Boro Dems rally for Chou
Ackerman spoke at the event, welcoming Chou to “our club” and extolling her virtues and experience with issues such as education. Chou , who was born in China, served as a District 26 school board member, an aide to Councilman David Weprin (D-Hollis) and is the director of a tutoring company.
“You’re one of the brightest things that’s happened to our political family in a long time,” he said. “You’ve ignited a spark.”

United Federation of Teachers Endorses Yen Chou for City Council
FLUSHING, NY - Today, Monday, October 19, 2009 at 1:30pm at the Queens UFT Headquarters, 97-77 Queens Blvd., 8th Floor, Rego Park. Members of the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), headed by Rona Freiser, Queens Borough Representative, will endorse the candidacy of Yen Chou for City Council in the 20th Council District. Yen Chou has based her campaign on education and this endorsement is significant toward her commitment to her community of education first.
UFT is an important endorsement for Yen Chou because of the support they provide their candidates. There are a considerable number of UFT members that reside in the district and that will come out to support Yen Chou’s campaign.

Congressman Gary Ackerman (Dist. 5 NY) are to endorse Yen S. Chou for her bid as the first Asian-American New York City Councilwoman. In what is deemed as one of the tightest Council races in the City, these are important endorsements for Yen Chou.
